Meet Beth Hamilton
Director, The Learner First USA
I have been in education for 20 years serving as a public education teacher, instructional coach, and 10 years as an elementary principal. I am a Pacific North West (USA) native having grown up in Oregon and for the last 20 years, live in Washington State.
“My passion lies in students, families, and communities and I am excited for the opportunity to use my expertise and knowledge as an educator and administrator to support other school communities grow while continuing to grow and learn myself.”
In 2016, I was tasked with the biggest and most rewarding challenge of my career thus far: visualizing, planning, and opening a brand new elementary school (Wilburton Elementary) for the Bellevue School District. This was the first brand new school community since the 1970s in the district. I, with the team I hired, were tasked with focusing on innovative and new ways to serve our school community while being a “lighthouse” school for others to learn from in our district and beyond. This meant new ways of connecting, collaborating, instructing, and more. We were innovative focusing on how we engaged families, students, and staff in different ways to change our school system from traditional to one that serves the students sitting in front of us, today. To do this, we engaged community partnerships, along with focusing on collaboration, and building a system that is focused on each student, family, and staff member as unique individuals to contribute positively to our world, inside and outside of the schoolhouse.
I look forward to getting to know you, your change teams, and your communities in deep ways so that we can work collaboratively to celebrate and grow together in service of our students, families, and communities.
